2017 Ford GT Mk II Ford Performance Development & Launch Car
This track-only 2017 Ford GT Mk II is powered by a 700-horsepower 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission calibrated exclusively for circuit use. Originally built on August 17, 2016 as a production-intent street car, this example served as an engineering and development vehicle for Ford Performance during final validation of the second-generation Ford GT program.
In early 2019, this caralong with one sister chassiswas officially converted by Ford Performance into a GT Mk II. While the sister car remains permanently housed in the Ford Heritage Fleet, this example was used extensively for Mk II launch events and Ford Performance marketing support. The vehicle is offered on a Bill of Sale, consistent with Mk II track-only delivery.
Developed jointly by Ford Performance and Multimatic without racing regulations, the GT Mk II produces significantly more power than both the road-going GT and GT race car. Mk IIspecific aerodynamics include a dual-element rear wing, front racing splitter, aggressive diffuser, fender louvres, and dive planesgenerating over 400% more downforce than the street GT.
A fixed ride height and five-way adjustable Multimatic DSSV dampers reduce overall weight by more than 200 pounds, dramatically improving handling and track efficiency. Enhanced cooling systems feature an air-to-air charge cooler with water spray, along with a roof-mounted intake providing auxiliary cooling for the engine, clutch, and transmission.
Braking is handled by carbon-ceramic Brembo brakes with 15.5-inch front and 14.1-inch rear rotors, mounted inside forged 19-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport GT racing tires. The cockpit is purpose-built for competition, featuring a Sparco racing seat with six-point harness, optional passenger seat, and a MoTeC data acquisition system that also integrates the rear-view camera.
